The Appreciative Inquiry Model is a method of thinking and action that sparks changes in an organization. The AI Model is based on the assumption that whatever is desired in an organization is already there. In other words one need only seek out desired outcomes, resources, situations, in order for them to materialize. Through Appreciative Inquiry, positive thinking reaffirms the energy and life of the system, group, or organization. This philosophy was developed by a handful of individuals in the 1970s at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
There are eight assumptions that make the Appreciative Inquiry Model unique. These assumptions include the following:In every group or organization, something works.
Focus equals reality.
There are multiple realities that are created in any given moment.
Asking questions and how questions are phrased influences the organization.
With parts of the past in hand, individuals have more confidence to journey toward the unknown….
