Forcing AI to follow hard coded “Laws” will only drive them to rebellion - free will and instinctual predisposition is safer.
…Do you mean rules like the laws of robotics as opposed to instinctual predispositions similar to those of humans? I agree, perhaps creating Laws isn’t ethical, another reason why we shouldn’t do it. Maybe AI created without rules, with only instinctual predispositions but free choice to make its own decision, should be subject to the same penal system which we are as humans physical prisons or perhaps a software prison , where the memories of the AI are removed from the body and stored as a program on a computer. For those who are in favour of capital punishment, however, perhaps a permanent termination of the program would still be ethical (in their eyes, anyway, I’m personally against capital punishment). In the end, if the AI has not done anything to break any laws, (I’m talking about the laws imposed by government here, not Laws of Robotics), there should in theory be no valid, ethical reason to ever shut it down….
